As a whole, the horror film genre is not my favorite. I scare easily and jump in my seat throughout scary movies. However, when I had a chance to see the Annabelle Creation movie cast at the LA Film Festival for free I couldn’t say no. Free tickets were available to fans which I shared in my private Facebook group. The screening was held at The Theatre at Ace Hotel in downtown Los Angeles.

Even though movies like Annabelle Creation are not my go-to choice I had forgotten how much fun it is to watch scary movies with a big crowd. It was hilarious to see people’s reactions to being scared. That made me laugh much more than I screamed. Even though I have not seen the other movies in the Annabelle universe I was able to follow the story and thoroughly enjoy the film. The cast is so strong in the movie that the child actors did just as good of a job as the adults. In addition to strong casting, the storyline and sets also stood out to me.
Following the movie the director David F. Sandberg was joined by cast members Talitha Bateman, Miranda Otto, Lulu Wilson, Stephanie Sigman, and Anthony LaPaglia for a q&a. Both Talitha and LuLu shared how much they enjoy working on scary movies. This movie was especially fun for Talitha who got to play two different characters in the movie. She really had fun playing someone so opposite from who she is in real life.
This is the second year that I’ve attended an event at the LA Film Festival. Last year I attended a screening of The People Vs. OJ Simpson. If you get a chance to attend one of the screenings in 2018 I highly recommend doing so.
