Pop ups are incredibly huge in the LA area while in The OC we haven’t seen too many open up. I was thrilled to learn that Darling Mushrooms recently opened up in Brea. What is Darling Mushrooms? It is an interactive photo museum with 28 unique photo ops. This pop up opened in December 2019 and is set to stay through March 2020 but there is the potential for it to get extended.
I reached out to Darling Mushrooms to see if I could get a press pass and they were so kind to let me come in and check it out to share with you all. There is such a fantastic variety in the different photo areas. There is an infinity mirror room, a tea set up, and a fabulously colorful spot.
We spoke with LA adventurer Lena from Lenazilla on Instagram for the LA Dreaming Podcast all about pop up experiences in LA. You can listen to the podcast through Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts, Amazon Music, iHeartRadio, Stitcher, or Podbean.
You could easily spend at least an hour just taking photos and trying out different poses. I went on a weekday when they first opened which meant that I essentially had the place to myself. It’s always nice to not have to wait for others to finish taking their photos. As some of you know sometimes you’ll be waiting for a long time.
This is a family-friendly pop up which I really appreciated because so many feel like they are just designed for adults.
There is plenty of free parking available in the downtown Brea area. So you don’t have to worry about giving yourself a time limit to get back to your car.
Darling Mushrooms is closed on Mondays. The hours of operation are from 11:30 am-8:30 pm.
You can find tickets here.
