Howl at the Moon Universal Studios Hollywood Citywalk

I love dueling piano bars. My absolute favorite one is Jellyrolls at the Boardwalk Hotel at Walt Disney World. Surprisingly, there are not many dueling piano bars in the Los Angeles area. Howl at the Moon at the Universal Studios Hollywood CityWalk is a rare find in the city. Not that you can’t find plenty of bars, karaoke spots, or places to hear live music because there’s one of those on almost every single street in LA. There is something special about dueling piano bars that makes me love them more than the others.

Please note that at the end of November Howl at the Moon will move to 6356 Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles, CA. The tips on how to get in free should still apply.

Howl at the Moon charges a $10 cover to get in. However, you can get a good discount on tickets via Goldstar for $3.75. But there is a way you can go for free. My friends and I have gone to Howl at the Moon for free two times in the last month. You will most likely need to pay the first time you go. However, be sure to fill out the forms on the tables to win a free party. Several of my friends and I have won free parties. Not only do the parties include free admission for all your friends but you also get extremely discounted drinks. I’m talking $1.50 & $3 drinks!

Almost everyone wins a party. So pay to go once and then keep going over and over again for everyone’s party. All of my friends who entered to win a party got an email saying they won so it can definitely happen for you too.

What to Know Before You Go

  • If you want a table plan on arriving close to when it opens at 7pm.
  • Write a funny note or put a few dollars with your song request if you really want it to get played.
  • Parking at the Citywalk can be expensive. After 7pm it should be $10. You can always park for free in the metro parking lot at the bottom of the hill and walk to the CityWalk.

Something else that is fun to do at the CityWalk is to attend a taping of Extra.
