The Stars on the Walk of Fame are one of the most iconic landmarks of Los Angeles. Hollywood has associated been associated with the entertainment industry for decades. The walk of fame is a place that honors their contributions as well as others in the entertainment industry. The “walk” is made up of 15 blocks on Hollywood Blvd and three blocks on Vine St. New stars are dedicated throughout the year.

The stars have the names of an entertainer or group with a symbol of the category they are being recognized in. For example, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have the television receiver icon on their star. Some stars have been honored with multiple stars each one having a different icon on it. In addition to the television receiver icon, there are four other icons: classic film camera, phonograph record, radio microphone, and comedy/tragedy masks.

Finally walked by Audrey’s star #audreyhepburn #walkoffame #hollywood

How do people get a star? Someone has to nominate the entertainer and unfortunately, the nomination cannot come from fans. A manager or studio has to submit paperwork for that person to be considered. There is a selection committee that chooses the people who will receive a star each year. Certain requirements have to be met for someone to even be qualified. And, some people like Leonardo DiCaprio are qualified but simply do not want one.

There are over 2,000 stars on the walk of fame which is run by the Hollywood chamber of commerce. They have a viewing area for fans at almost every single star ceremony. You can read about my experience attending the Hollywood Walk of Fame star ceremony for Debra Messing from Will and Grace. The best way to find out about any upcoming ceremonies is to visit the Hollywood chamber of commerce website. If you cannot attend the ceremony they do offer a live stream on their website.

If you want to find the stars of names you know that you want to take pictures of you can look up the address beforehand. Remember when I said that the walk of fame makes up 15 blocks on Hollywood Blvd? That means you could spend a lot of time looking for specific stars unless you check for the address ahead of time. You might also want to check and see what stars you would be interested in looking for. It might surprise you that some of your favorite people don’t have a star on the Walk of Fame.

I have walked by the stars lots of times when I’ve been in Hollywood and I have learned how difficult it can be to get a good picture. Hollywood Blvd is a crowded place so it can be hard to get a picture without people walking into it. If you wait until people are not in your way to take a picture you could be waiting a long time. It can also be tricky to get a clear picture because of the glare from the sun. The biggest suggestion that I have for you is to be sure to watch your purse, bag, camera, wallet, or whatever you have with you while you are in Hollywood. And be sure to ignore anyone who tries to hand you something.

You can find the Disneyland Star in front of the Soda Shop at the El Capitan Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard.

Parking at the Hollywood Walk of Fame

I would recommend parking at Ovation Hollywood at 6801 Hollywood Blvd, Hollywood, CA 90028. Street parking can be difficult to come by in this area.

One of the other most iconic things to see in Hollywood is the hand & footprints of celebrities at the TCL Chinese Theatre.
