The Greystone Mansion in Beverly Hills is a beautiful site to visit. The grounds and exterior of the mansion are available to the public for free most days of the year from 10 am to 5 pm. During daylight savings, the hours are extended to 6 pm. They will occasionally close for holidays, filming, and special events. Tours of the inside are available a few times throughout the year.

greystone mansion in beverly hills

Greystone Mansion is also known as the Doheny Mansion was built in 1928. It is a Tudor Revival Mansion designed by Gordon Kaufmann. The City of Beverly Hills purchased the house and land in 1965. By 1971 it became a city park and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.

This place might look familiar to you as it has been used several times for filming tv shows and movies. I recognize it as Chilton from the tv show Gilmore Girls. The real story of what happened on these grounds really sounds like something out of a movie. Edward L. Doheny gifted the house to his son Ned and his family. Four months after moving in Ned and his secretary died in a murder-suicide.

Is Greystone Mansion Free?

Yes! You can park for free on the property and walk around the grounds without having to pay a dime. However, if you would like to participate in one of the indoor tours or a special event that will cost you.

Greystone Mansion in Beverly Hills

It is worth visiting at least once. The grounds are stunning and the views of the city are lovely as well. One hour is the average amount of time spent here and unless you really want to take your time with photos I wouldn’t think you would need to allow for more time. There are public restrooms available but there is not a gift shop where you can buy snacks or drinks.
