Recently, my family and I went to visit the JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort & Spa. We stayed here a few times when I was younger but I don’t have any memories of it. I was so excited to finally get to experience this incredible hotel as an adult. Especially because I do remember seeing the hotel on one of my favorite shows, Saved By The Bell. This is where Jessie Spano’s father got married in the episodes Palm Springs Weekend Part 1 & 2.

I love that this hotel is incredibly stunning. Palm trees line the drive to the entrance and you’ll see lots of flamingos in the water. This place is all about relaxation and that is truly felt with all the water elements providing a soothing experience.

This hotel can be a perfect fit for anyone who wants to golf. You can even play mini golf for free as a hotel guest. It was 118 on my most recent stay so I did not do any kind of golfing but I would like to on a future trip.

This hotel has gone through a big transformation with the look of the lobby from when I stayed here in the early 90s to now. The old lobby felt like you were in a greenhouse. This lobby just makes you feel like you’re in a pretty unique hotel. I can honestly say that this is the only place that I’ve stayed that had a boat that you could board from the lobby.

My favorite things about the lobby are the birds that are located throughout the bottom level. They are so pretty to look at and some of them will talk to you. My other favorite part? The boats that run every evening.

You can take a relaxing cruise or use it as a way to get to dinner at Mikado’s. Mikado’s is only open for dinner and is a hibachi-style restaurant. The food is very good though it can get pricey.

There are multiple pools which are truly wonderful. My Mom and I did not think to purchase floats before our trip and wound up overpaying for ones from the resort. You can find some really cute floats on Amazon. Don’t worry about trying to inflate the floats on your own. They have air machines that help you air up your floats very quick.

This is the ultimate place to come to relax in the desert. You can beat the heat by spending time at the pool. Truly unwind at the spa. Play a round of golf on each of the two courses. The resort fee includes a mini-golf for free. They also offer complimentary bike rentals. The scenery is stunning and the hotel is located in a great area. Palm Springs is a short drive if you would like to go check that out as well.

My Mom and I asked for a great view when we checked in. Our room was located on the top floor next to the Presidental Suite. Our view was absolutely incredible. I was also thrilled with the size of the bathroom. The room was nothing spectacular looks wise but with this hotel, you are truly paying for the amenities.

I still can’t believe this was the view from our room. Having a balcony was wonderful not only for enjoying the view but also for helping our bathing suits dry.

Price-wise the best time of year to visit is during the summer or early fall. Of course, that is also when temperatures can be over 100 degrees. Be sure to follow the resort on social media so that you will know when they are having specials. I would also like to encourage you to join the free Marriott Bonvoy rewards program.

breakfast at marriott desert springs

We got the room package which included a buffet breakfast at the Rockwood Grill. On a previous visit, we had lunch here which was okay. Breakfast was quite good but for the price, it should include more. Hot items like pancakes and waffles are not included. You would need to upgrade your breakfast.

While this hotel is expensive I highly recommend staying here. It is a really great vacation destination.
