The Ultimate Guide to 2023 4th of July Events in Los Angeles

The amount of 4th of July Events in Los Angeles is overwhelming. But, the good news is that there is bound to be an event that will be the right choice for you with this many options. These 4th of July celebrations in Los Angeles range from free to expensive. I have also created a list included at the end that lists daytime events that won’t have fireworks. And, if you’re up for the drive or live closer to the OC I’ve included some recommendations for 4th of July Events in Orange County.

There are some fireworks shows taking place on 7/1 but for this guide, I am focusing on events actually taking place on 7/4.

The Hollywood Bowl

4th of July Hollywood Bowl

One of the reasons that the Hollywood Bowl is a favorite 4th of July event for me is the fact that they have their 4th of July celebrations for three nights. To me, this is the most accommodating event in that almost every other event on our list here only takes place on July 4th which may or may not work for your schedule.

What I love about this experience is how they split it into half a patriotic concert and half a regular concert. When I went in 2021, the LA Philharmonic kicked off the evening with Patriotic Music. Then, Kool and the Gang came out and performed. Then, the Philharmonic came back and performed during the fireworks show. It is a great fireworks show so I am truly looking forward to enjoying this again. In 2023 I saw The Beach Boys here for the 4th of July.

You can get your tickets for the July 4th Spectacular with Harry Connick, Jr here.

If you’ll be visiting the Hollywood Bowl for the first time check out our tips here.

Los Angeles Dodgers

dodgers stadium world series

Spending the 4th of July at the ballpark feels like a classic 4th of July experience. The Los Angeles Dodgers are playing the Arizona Diamondbacks at home at 6:10 pm. The game will end with a fireworks show. Lately, they’ve been having drone shows after Friday night games instead of fireworks but based on the information on the Dodgers website it looks like they will have actual fireworks for the 4th.

In previous years fans were allowed to be on the field for the fireworks but I haven’t been able to confirm if that will be allowed for the 4th. If you go be sure to ask an employee if you’ll be able to go on the field to see the fireworks. I think that would be such a cool experience. I have read old comments online from people saying that when games go past 10:45 pm fans are not allowed on the field for fireworks.

Rose Bowl

The Rose Bowl used to host AmericaFest for the 4th of July but that has been canceled due to budget cuts. However, there is still an event taking place on July 4th. LA Galaxy and LAFC will play. The game will end with a fireworks show.

General public viewing is available at Burton Chace Park and Fisherman’s Village. I’ve been to the boat parade at Burton Chace Park for the holidays which included fireworks.
