Earlier this year I stayed at the Grande Colonial Hotel in La Jolla for a few days while attending a wedding. I had been to La Jolla once before and cannot wait to go back. La Jolla is one of those cute beach towns that is a nice escape from the big cities. The hotel is a short walk from the water and the rooms with a view do not disappoint. This charming hotel was built in 1913 and is currently undergoing renovation to keep everything up to date. The hotel has a posh feel without being stuffy. It is a nice place for a relaxing stay. One of the main reasons that I was really excited to stay at this hotel is the fact that it has a Hollywood connection. Stars like Gregory Peck and Eve Arden stayed here while working at the La Jolla Playhouse.
The view of the Pacific Ocean from the hotel room was stunning. I genuinely felt like I was on a cruise when I was in the room. I loved that there was even a view of the water from the bathroom. The pool for the hotel isn’t incredibly impressive but the hotel itself is very nice to stay at. I would rate this 4.5 out of 5. One of the best features is the location of the hotel.
The ocean is a short walk from the hotel. You should be able to see some sea lions as well as other animals in the water.
My family and I walked down to eat at Duke’s. We’ve been to Duke’s in Malibu and Huntington Beach before and were excited to see that La Jolla had one as well. The fish sandwich is delicious!
